The results of the public opinion research on women’s political activism in Montenegro have been presented.

Research agency DeFacto Consultancy conducted a study on perceptions related to women’s activism in Montenegro in September 2021, commissioned by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) in Montenegro.

The main objective of the research was to examine its impact on shaping attitudes towards women’s participation in public life and politics and to determine the role of the family in shaping the views of young women on social and political participation. Finally, the research also explores the perceptions of female respondents regarding opportunities for involvement in various aspects of public life.

The target population consisted of women aged 20 to 55 years, and the quantitative research was conducted using the Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) technique on a sample of 1006 respondents.

In addition to quantitative research, the study included a qualitative component, with one focus group conducted in the northern, central, and southern regions of Montenegro, featuring women from the same target group.

The main findings of the research were presented by representatives of DeFacto, Olivera Komar and Božana Mašanović, at a roundtable organized by WFD on Friday, December 3, 2021, in collaboration with the Women’s Club of the Parliament of Montenegro.

The findings serve as the basis for projects through which WFD will support political parties in strengthening women’s organizations within them, strategic planning, and through educational programs on women in politics. The presentation with the research results is available at:
